Grab your biggest hat and your shiniest shoes, because it’s time for the most exciting two minutes in sports and sixty minutes in crime!
Celebrities, tourists, and locals alike are eagerly awaiting the start of the Kentucky Derby, but the shot that rings out isn’t from a starting gun. Front-runner jockey Zeke Questrian has been shot to death in his horse’s stall, minutes before the race.
Who could have committed the crime of murder, and the even worse crime of keeping over 100,000 people standing around waiting? Could it have been Zeke’s rookie competitor, Rye Derr? Or known gambler Jack Pott, hoping to stack the odds? Perhaps it was Rose Garland, the official florist of the derby?
There are dozens of suspects to sort through, so hold onto your mint juleps and magnifying glasses - you are the only ones who can get Down and Derby to solve this crime!
Rye Derr: You are one of the most veteran jockeys here at the race. You've ridden at dozens of Derbys before - but you've never won. This year, you're expected to take second place!
Bry Dell: You are the owner of Alibi, the horse who is expected to win the Derby this year. He's the best horse in the world!
Minnie Bagues: You are rich. Extremely rich. You-own-ten-boats rich. You attend the Derby every year - you enjoy the hats and the drinks. And this year, you enjoy one of the jockeys as well. You and Zeke have a secret relationship that's been quite a lot of fun.
Rich Gen: You were born with a silver spoon. Literally. Your parents gave it to you instead of a pacifier. You are incredibly wealthy, so you love doing wealthy-person-things, like sitting in the Millionaire's Row at the Kentucky Derby, and bettings tons of money.
Tap Sterr: You are a bartender here at the Derby. Everyone loves your mint juleps, but you make other drinks, too!
Rose Garland: You are the florist here at hte Derby. Everyone is always telling you that your remind them of a flower with your bright, sunny personality! Isn't that perfect? You love flowers and you love your job! You also love one of the jockeys at the race this year. You and Zeke have a secret relationship! It's true love.
John Ahlis: You are a sports reporter, here to make sure that your loyal fans get the fastest and best scoop on the Derby!
Vita Mins: You are the official Veterinarian here at the Derby. You take care of all of the horses, including Alibi, the horse anticipated to win the Derby. You take your job extremely seriously: don't the horses deserve the absolute best care available?
Otta Town: You are a tourist, and it's your very first Kentucky Derby! It's been your dream to see the Derby since you were very young, and you can hardly believe you're finally here.
Rez Ident: You are a local, so you've been coming to the Derby since you could toddle on your own two legs! You know exactly how things should be done.
Frank Seller: You're a hot dog vendor here for the Derby. You've been doing this for years, and it gets old after a while. Perhaps that's why you got tired of cooking up hot dogs and started cooking up a scheme of your own...
Jack Pott: You know that the real thrill of the Derby isn't watching the race - it's putting your money where your mouth is and betting on it!
Brad Odd: Book-keeping isn't a very exciting name for a job, but the actual act of taking bets, tracking bets, paying out bets - isn't actually very exciting either. In fact, the whole thing is a headache.
Winnie Nay: You are a precocious six-year-old, and there's nothing you love more than horses! You've even been saving up your pocket money all year to bet on Alibi, your very favoritest horse, even though you had to wear stilts and a very big hat since children aren't allowed to bet.
Marty Goer: Everyone knows that the whole point of the Kentucky Derby is the party! Hanging out in the infield, drinking those juleps - is there a better way to spend a day?!
Gene Hy: You are an accomplished horse groomer.
Stu Bowl: You are by far the best burgoo chef at the Derby, and probably in the world.
May List: You're famous. What for isn't really important. What's important is that everyone knows your name and face.
Dot Paid: No one remembers your name or your face. After all, you're just a volunteer here at the Derby! Or at least, you were until this year...
Dylan Tante: Hats. Shoes. Dresses. Suits. Your world is the fashion world, and you're one of the best. The Derby is one of the best places to scope out ideas and inspiration. And this year, people will be taking inspiration from you - you designed the uniform for Zeke Questrian.
