It’s 1988, and the Podunk Roller Rink is filled with teens showing off their shoulder pads and mullets—but it’s a strangely-assorted group. They ignore each other as much as possible and they seem resentful, almost like they’re here on detention. And why are the cool kids, the loners and the nerds all here together, skating dully in a circle?

The people watching from the sidelines are equally mismatched: the rink employees, tired of renting skates and selling hot dogs; the retired roller derby pros, bored by the lack of violence; and the town prudes, obsessed with the possibility that the teens might start enjoying themselves or even worse—dancing.

Suddenly, there is a scream. The body of Kevin Floosey, the new kid in town, has been found in the back hallway. It looks like someone strangled him with a leg warmer. Who could have done such a terrible thing to a guy who just wanted to dance… or is that really all he wanted?

Who knows? Maybe YOU killed him!

Appropriate for ages 12+!

Murder at the Roller Rink

I actually can't review the content, my 1-star review is due to the fact that I purchased the murder mystery and wanted to download it to use and it wasn't emailed to me until 2 days after purchase which was well after I intended to use it. The event I hoped to use it for had already passed so I did not use it. The website advertises that the content is available for download immediately after purchase and that is false, it is not available until well after purchase, so do not purchase and expect to have immediate access to the content that you purchased.

Cute! Fun for youth.
Criticism is number of items for host to coordinate and participants to negotiate in play.

Chaotic but fun

We did this party at short notice, and I only downloaded the materials that morning. But still it was a nice clean script and simple options for me to follow — so even if I didn’t really know what was going on, our group of eight 11-year-old guests really got into it and enjoyed themselves. Would definitely consider again.

I threw an 80's themed murder mystery birthday party for my 13 year old and we had a blast! Everything was included for every character from recommended dialogue to character background. You can print out packets for each character or you can email to each individual guest. You can even have them generate who is the guilty guest is in secret! Guest ages ranged from 10-45! Definitely doing this one again as you never know who is guilty and the commitment to the character makes it different every time!
